Are Your Aly's dishcloths biodegradable?

Yes, and by choosing a reusable dishcloth made from natural fibers, with water-based dyes and chlorine-free production, you can make a difference.
Instead of using disposable wipes or paper towels, you can wash Your Aly's dishcloths in the washing machine at up to 60°C. Rinse your dishcloth in cold water before hanging it to dry to keep it fresh longer.

There's no need to throw your Your Aly dishcloth in the trash; simply let it decompose in your natural compost. The material in our Swedish dishcloth is 100% biodegradable and breaks down within 8 weeks.

How often should I change dishcloth?

A general rule of thumb is to replace the dishcloth once a week, but there are factors that can influence this. Please see our answers on how you can extend the lifetime of your dishcloth.

How can I extend the lifespan of my dishcloth?

A dishcloth can be reused, so don’t throw it away too soon.

There are several ways to clean and refresh your dishcloth. We recommend the following methods:

1: Hang it up to dry regurarly on your dishcloth holder

2: The simplest way to clean a dishcloth is to boil it in water. Bring a pot of water to a boil and let the dishcloth simmer for 3-5 minutes. You can add a few drops of dish soap or laundry detergent for extra cleaning power. The boiling water will kill the bacteria, and the dishcloth can be used again once it has dried.

3: Dishcloths can be effectively washed in the washing machine; 60 degrees Celsius is sufficient. You can also fill the machine with other cleaning cloths or rags at the same time.

To keep the dishcloth fresh longer, rinse it with water after use. Throw it in the compost when it can no longer be used, and it will break down in 8 weeks.
